The Race That Stops A Nation

Here in Australia we are mad keen on gambling. As a nation we love a flutter and will bet on anything. The Melbourne cup has been held at 3pm on the first Tuesday in November since 1861. Well today Paul Amyes Photography were present at the finish line to capture this years momentous event.

The Race That Stops A Nation
This years Melbourne cup was won by Protectionist narrowly beating Red Cadeaux accross the line. What an exciting finish.

There is a strange misconception outside of Australia that the event is a horse race. Well originally it was but with so many horse being killed in the race over the years the RSPCA stepped in and the rules were changed . This year we can happily report that no snails died in the race.
