Least We Forget – ANZAC Day

Yesterday was ANZAC Day here in York. Like many Australian rural towns York held a parade and then a service at the war memorial. As a migrant to Australia it is hard for me to really comprehend what ANZAC Day really means, if I were to take a stab at defining it would be:

a day of national mourning coupled with enormous national pride and the closest thing to religious experience for most Australians

Here are some photos I took from yesterday’s parade and service.

For non-Australians looking to know more about ANZAC Day here is a good account by The Australian War Memorial and there is an interesting account here at SBS TV.
